Betty was shopping at an exclusive bridal boutique for a dress for her impending wedding. Betty utilized her kindness as a tool for karma after being shunned by a coworker due to her attire, imparting valuable knowledge to the employee in the process. Mike took great care in anything luxurious and worked for a high-end bridal shop. He was a little judgmental because he was really materialistic. Betty, an elderly woman, entered the store one day. It was a quieter day at the business than usual, with just Mike and his coworker Cassey working.

Certainly not the typical consumer the store had been dealing with, Betty was. Her clothes were out of style and her hair was disheveled, making her lack a sense of style. Betty had never been one to give her appearance much thought. She was never the materialistic sort and thought her inner beauty was more valuable. Furthermore, she was not actually able to shop where she was that day due to her job. Betty was going to marry in the summer, and she had made up her mind to make the most of this special occasion. Mike was texting on his phone and gave her a disgusted frown as she entered the store.

Whoa, what a surprise! On the way to bingo night, I believe someone got lost. Just take a peek at that hair. Just terrible,” Mike said to Cassey, his coworker. “Observe, ma’am. Would you mind if I simplified things a little for you? Mike, it is not fair. She is a client, and as such, she should be treated the same as any other. Please assist her now. Cassey said, “I need to grab some of the new goods from the back,” and he headed to the storage area in the backroom. Mike ignored Cassey and rolled his eyes while he kept texting. When Betty tried to talk to Mike in an attempt to catch his attention, he ignored her.

I apologize, young man. Would you please assist me? Betty smiled broadly and asked. “What are you wanting?” Mike shot back angrily, keeping his nose buried in his phone. “Do not be unpleasant. All I need help with is finding a wedding dress. I am getting married this coming—” Mike became irate and forcefully interrupted Betty before she could finish. “Observe, ma’am. Would you mind if I somewhat simplified things for you? I can tell by the way you are dressed that you do not have much money. A few blocks away is a thrift store where you can find gently used dresses. Mike remarked, “I am sure they will be able to help you.”

Oh. And you can tell all of that just by looking at it, huh? Disappointed, Betty asked. “My dear, do not take it personally. I am trying to help both of us. By doing this, we avoid squandering each other’s time,” Mike shot out, refusing to even look at Betty. “Hmm. Okay. “Well, all I can say is, at least have the decency to respect me as an older, if you would not respect me as a customer,” Betty remarked.
