Christina decided to make fun of her former classmate Mia for being so much more successful after seeing her working as a waiter at the neighborhood eatery. Mia feigned calmness despite the pain, and then the roles were reversed. After completing her college education in New York, Christina returned to her hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. She worked her way up to a high position in a well-known marketing firm. However, it was quite stressful. Before taking a job as the Marketing Research Director, she had been single for years. However, even with the promotion, Christina was unable to find personal time. That is why one evening, she stopped for dinner at a little restaurant close to her office because she was so exhausted.
“Good night. I am Mia, and I will be serving you throughout the day. When the waitress arrived, she asked, “What can I get for you?” Christina glanced up and saw that the woman was a friend from high school. Her gaze grew wide. “Mia? From High Horizon? Christina is here! Do you still recall me? She grinned and said to Mia. Yes, that is awful. Good to see you again. Mia replied absently, “I assumed you moved to New York for college.” Yes, but I returned a long time ago. I am currently a senior executive in a marketing company. Is not that awesome? Christina made a small boast.
“Congratulations. Shall I allow you to peruse the menu for a little while? With little time to engage in small talk with a former classmate, Mia inquired. “Sure. Thanks!” Christina answered back. She observed Mia selecting dishes from a different table and bringing them to the cooking area. Ha! She is just a waitress, and I am so accomplished, Christina thought sardonically. She gave Mia a wave before placing her dinner order. How long have you been employed here, then? Christina did not finish her order till she asked. “Since our high school graduation. Do you need anything else from me? Mia responded.
“Ah, Mia. Are you lacking ambition? Did you attend college at all? Will you be employed here for the rest of your life? Christina gave a sneer. “Maybe, I am not sure. The individuals are pleasant, and the job is good. Is everything here just for you? Mia stated before returning to her work. She had goals and had been saving for them for years, of course. Christina, but, did not require to know that. Yes, indeed. A side order of fries would be great. Christina answered, “Thank you.”
Christina was happy to eat when Mia brought her order a few minutes later. She was overjoyed to see Mia. She felt better when she boasted about her achievements. She promised to come back as she paid and waved farewell to Mia. A few days later, Christina brought her other high school pals out to dinner and invited them along. Once more, Mia served them. Back at school, the girls had teased Mia and other pupils, but since they were adults in public, they were allowed to sneer and smile in Mia’s face when she left their table.
