Unexpectedly, Ava falls in love with the man her parents set up for her marriage. However, days before their wedding, she finds out disturbing rumors about him, so she comes up with a test to find out what his real motivations are. Breathing heavily, Ava looked up at Walter, the man her parents had brought her to see. He got up from his chair, looking dapper in a modern suit that emphasized his toned physique, his blue eyes gleaming in the tasteful lighting. “What do you think?” Ava’s mother Hilda muttered, observing her daughter’s flushed cheeks.
There was anxiety and excitement in the air as the families sat at a large dining table in a restaurant. Ava was reluctant to meet Walter on purpose at first, but she soon found herself pulled to him. Her admiration for him only grew as a result of his gentlemanly behavior over the dinner and the meetings that followed. She said yes without second thought when he got down on one knee and proposed a few weeks later.
She cried out, “I will marry you,” as Walter placed a diamond ring on her finger. With just a few weeks to go before the big day, Ava and her friend Hillary visited a boutique to select Ava’s wedding gown. The wedding was scheduled. They had arrived and were waiting to be seen when they heard two women murmuring in the distance. Ava tried not to listen at first, but she could not have missed a few phrases because they were so loud, especially when she heard Walter’s name. You mean the playboy with the blue eyes, Walter, is getting married? A woman uttered an incredulous whisper.
Another woman said, “Apparently, his parents found him a millionaire’s daughter.” It was Ava’s turn to listen, but before she could say anything more, one of the attendants came up to talk to her. “Did you hear those people in the lobby talking?” As they followed the attendant, Hillary enquired. “How many Walters are there in this state, do you know?” In response, Ava brushed off the reports. She was certain that her Walter was unique.
Ava drove to Walter’s residence an hour later. The roads were soaked from the previous rain, and as she got closer to his mansion, she saw some homeless individuals bunched together by the side of the road, attempting to get dry. After lowering her window to give them some cash and slowing down to prevent splattering water on them, Ava was shocked to hear what they were talking about.
“We were sprayed with water by the wealthy man in the red automobile! He is lost all of those money on himself! And I bet that money is not his! It is his parents’,” a man with a beard complained. A woman added sourly, “He believes he can do anything with his attractive looks.” Ava, taken aback and perplexed, rolled up her window and entered Walter’s mansion, wondering if they were talking about him. Though she was not sure if his charitable activity and sympathetic side were simply for show, she had observed them.
